Why Should You Use Insulated Curtains?

Why Should You Use Insulated Curtains?

If you work in an industrial setting, whether it’s an auto shop, a warehouse, or a similar situation, insulated curtains may offer a number of great benefits for your operations. Insulated curtains from AmCraft Manufacturing are available in a variety of different thicknesses and insulation levels, providing you with the option to find the best curtain for your specific needs. Not only do

insulated curtains

offer exceptional temperature control, allowing for better or more versatile use of your space, but they can also help you save money on utilities because of their temperature-controlling capabilities.

Separate Different Temperature Zones

There are a number of reasons why you might need to have different parts of your warehouse kept at different temperatures. For instance, if you work in the food industry, you might need to have refrigerated foods held at a different temperature than dry product or packaged goods. If you default method is to simply keep the temperature at the lowest temperature point it needs to be to keep your products safe, you’re wasting a great deal of energy and money cooling the areas that don’t necessarily need to be cooled. Likewise, if you use a curtain to separate the outdoor elements from inside your building, you can easily control the temperature difference between the two environments and avoid having to alter your climate control more frequently.

Save Money on Utilities

Naturally, being able to separate different temperature zones will lead to a number of savings opportunities on your utility bills. Maintaining temperatures in different parts of your space is much easier when using insulated curtains, and not needing to use your utilities to compensate for the area that needs a different climate can save you a lot of money. Imagine being able to keep one section of your warehouse at the necessary 60 degrees while allowing the rest of the space to maintain a more reasonable room temperature. In small offices and areas, even a couple degrees difference can bring major savings. In comparison to a larger space (like a warehouse), the same couple of degrees will result in savings that are even more significant. Save money and enjoy more versatile usage of your warehouse or business space by using insulated curtains.

Helpful Tips Before Ordering Industrial Curtains and Cleanroom Enclosures

Helpful Tips Before Ordering Industrial Curtains and Cleanroom Enclosures

Consider these

helpful tips before ordering industrial curtain systems and cleanroom enclosures.

Careful planning helps to create the perfect Industrial Curtain Wall or Cleanroom Enclosure for your Space.

Industrial curtain walls and curtain enclosures are used in many business applications to contain a space for a variety of uses. Industrial curtains are used as warehouse curtains, room divider curtains, softwall cleanrooms, hot air / cold air aisle containment curtains, autobody shop curtains and car wash curtains, to name a few.

Industrial Curtain Walls are typically ceiling to floor 14 oz or 18 oz vinyl curtains that are hung on a steel roller track system. The curtain walls are often retractable for the ease of accessibility, and the track can be re-mounted to a stable structure for mobility anywhere within your facility.

To assure a successful curtain project, AmCraft provides helpful tips before ordering industrial curtains or cleanroom enclosures. Here are a few important details to take into consideration before ordering a curtain wall system:

  • Determine if your workspace is near fire, sparks or highly flammable items. This would mean you should order a specific pvc vinyl material that is flame rated and hazmat safe.
  • Is there a sprinkler system in your facility where the curtains will be installed? The curtains need to be installed in a way that complies with your local fire department safety codes.
  • Ensure that the structure will support your curtain wall system or curtain enclosure at the ceiling level. These curtains tend to be heavy and are used typically with roller track systems, so the track system needs to be stable. We can help you determine what the weight of your curtains will be before you order to alleviate any potential problems during installation.
  • If you need to create an enclosure that is airtight, light tight or a cleanroom enclosure free of contaminants, we recommend that you use filler panels at the ceiling level, between the ceiling and the curtain track. These are foam filler panels that are custom cut with perforated, slotted angles that are perpendicular or parallel to your structural deck ceiling to create a fit tight. They are used with a ceiling suspension mount, and are custom cut every 5’ to 8’ the make them malleable enough to be notched, yet strong enough to mount all the way up to the ceiling deck. Heavy adhesive velcro strips are used to attach the filler panels. The foam filler panels also serve as a ‘wall’ of the enclosure to control temperature variances between the inside and outside of the contained area. They provide a custom solution to any ceiling deck and are easy to install and replace.

How to Clean & Maintain Industrial Curtains

How to clean industrial vinyl curtains

At AmCraft, we have a few suggestions on

how to clean industrial curtains

safely. Industrial Curtains are typically fabricated using 14oz or 18oz PVC vinyl in a matte or glossy finish. These heavy vinyl curtains are used in warehouses, autobody shops, technology data centers, food processing plants and other clean room applications. Depending on the requirement and environmental conditions in which they are used, over time industrial curtains collect debris, dust, mold and other contaminates on the surface, edges and track that can affect the cleanliness of the workspace.

For effective long use of your vinyl industrial curtain it is important to have a regular cleaning schedule and complete instructions on how to clean industrial curtains. We recommend that you clean the industrial curtains on a regular basis to prevent substance build up and mold that could contaminate the stitching and folds of the curtains. Simple Green is a product that is good for damp cloth cleaning or spot cleaning. It is also environmentally friendly.

Do NOT use a solvent based cleaner, as it could damage the integrity of the material. Rather, use alot of water and a cleaner that has a bleach ingredient. The use of a mild, non abrasive detergent will be necessary to cut through soil or any sort of mildly greasy or oily type film on the curtain. Test a small area first to make sure the cleaner you are using doesn’t discolor or ‘cloud’ the material. Using a cotton or microfiber cloth, wipe down the curtains in a consistent manner to make sure the entire curtain has been cleaned. Then use a clean, non-abrasive dry cloth to wipe down the cleaned area to remove water spots that could form and leave a residue.

Do NOT mix Bleach and Ammonia to use as a cleaner.

For safety purposes, wear eye protection and old clothing when cleaning your industrial curtains.
